how do you loose tennis ball size D20
This is a fantastic list! Thanks guys! 🙂
What about Cyclades? I seem to recall it being mentioned for two a lot before.
I'm surprised none of you guys (specifically Tom) put Seasons on your lists. Mine would be:
1. Seasons (too much downtime and checking others tableaus)
2. Innovation.
3. Race for the Galaxy.
4.Carcassonne.
5. Elder Sign.
6. Arkham Horror.
7. Le Havre.
8. Dominion.
9. Imperial Settlers.
10. The Castles of Burgundy.
Special mentions:
-The War of the Ring.
-The Lord of the Rings LCG.
(although they can be played with up to 4 players, I think they were designed just for 2)
Just my 2 cents.

Castles of Burgundy beongs in this list.
I like DC Deck Builder with 3 personally. Marvel Legendary I like most with 2 and I find 4 a bit much.
For me, I gotta say Smash Up. More than two people and too many things can happen that can mess up your plans before you get a chance to put them into action. It really shines, for me at least, as a great head-to-head duel.
Epic Spell Wars. Way too much downtime between turns for everyone even with just 4 players. Best with 2 or 3.
Castles of Burgundy and Five Tribes
really looking for a good top 10 multiplayer games that are great with 2 players… unfortunately i cant take this one seriously since the reason you guys give for some of the games is "it shortens the time" with 2 or "it plays faster" or "It requires less strategy" or "because i dont like this with 3+ players"(which doesn't even say why it's great at 2) duh, Tom even stated that you could say that about all the games where you have to think. can i get an actual list of multiplayer games that are great with 2-players with reasons that are based on unique multiplayer mechanics that shine at 2 , not because deck builders play faster at 2(why is there deck-builders on this list) or because you don't want to wait come on, this top-10 was lazy. This subject is important to me because im trying to get my wife into gaming so i was looking for good games that play great with 2. The fact that decent and ticket to ride is on this list is insane. Castles of burgundy is the best multiplayer game at two because the randomness of the tiles is increased so you wont ever use all the tiles with two, giving way more replayability ive never had the same tile spread twice at two, also the limit on buildings increase competitiveness to get the tiles you want. this is the first top 10 of yours that frustrated me and ive watched a ton of them.
While I agree with Sam re: Specter Ops, I have to strongly disagree with him regarding Descent. Descent, when played with 4 players, pits 4 minds against the 1 overlord. So if the players are playing to win, they will share what they need to, sacrifice when they need to and get the benefit of 4 minds seeing the situation and analyzing the best plans.
I'm usually the overlord when I play and it's hard to play against to 4 people are really focused on winning. If they can plan well, there's very little an OL can do against a unified team. If one is about to make the sub-optimal move, one of them will catch it and fix it.
No Forbidden Stars?..I bet that's the one great game of 2015 that is the most forgotten…lol
I think reviews that include thoughts on different player count might help a lot. We need lists like these, but short thoughts won't hurt the length of the video reviews. Thanks for this!
In a previous top 10 sam said he would never play dungeon crawlers with two. now he is saying that descent is best at two. logic?
"I'm sorry about the hat." lol
Smash Up is so much better with a healthy back and forth with 2.
as much as i love DC comics, im also not so big on the deck builder, i love the marvel one, but the dc one just isnt as fun for me, then again im not big on dominion which is very similar just no theme
I was hoping GOSU would make this list!
It's great with 2!
i understand sam's point about his number one. it may be the same thing for Mage knight…best with two player..than 3 or 4. but still the best solo boardgame ever .
I like your lists but for a quick reference, you should enable quick access to the different games or give a list in the description. My two cents
This is very helpful list for me. Right now, I'm collecting multiplayer board games that are good with 2 and good with more than 2 so when my kids are old enough to enjoy them, I'll be ready 🙂
I love Le Havre too, but my favourite games of it have been with three players.
Why the poo poo for DC deck building game? I prefer it over MARVEL for its simplicity, player character abilities, and player interaction.
This is cringy really cringy
where can I find this list, your videos are way too long to watch
Haha! I laughed so hard that Dr. Pepper came out of my nose when Zee said "You sicken me!"
Seasons is way better with 2. The downtime with 3 or 4 is excruciating.
Letters from Whitechapel is definitely up there for me
@Tom, thought you would put Caverna or Agricola.
You should add links to the description of the video to the specific parts in the video, such as place and (specially) the name of the games. Seriously the only reason I don't subscribe or like the video is because I really don't care about most of the stuff you say.
I completely agree with Sam's number 1. I will only play zombicide with 2. Only.
Dat Carmen Sandiego cosplay!
+1 Innovation
I feel that playing a game with Sam would be like pulling teeth lol
My #1 would have to be Runebound 3rd edition…it is amazing, but so long with 3 or more haha.
So what does everyone think about playing Descent 2.0 with the Road to Legend App? I haven't played Descent, but I primarily play games with two people (me and my girlfriend). Is Descent 2.0 worth getting for that purpose with the companion app?
"This is like a weird therapy session." – Zee Garcia
I really have to disagree about viceroy. It scales heart with more players since it is simultaneous action and at 2 there must isn't enough tension in card selection
Do a best Multiplayer games that can be played single player.
I kinda think that the only think I agree with Zee about his board game taste is Pandemic ….
Mostly, Everything else he chooses in his top tens is "Dafuq is that game ???"
😀 😀
45:57 Sam is a "CLOSET" Alpha Gamer …
Special mention : 46:29 , 46:45 😀 !!!! Zee cracks me up tho!
One glaring omission, and one of my favorite games of all-time (only two player): Castles of Burgundy.
The game I like tge best with two players is chinese checkers. I love the mano el mano strategy aspect of it. It almost becomes a stare match about making first contact.
I enjoy Lords of Waterdeep most as a two player game.
I think Five Tribes is best with two because you can take two moves in one round. This makes the game more strategic, particularly in turn order selection.
I also like Caverna as a two-player game but where each player is controlling two boards (we use a dice to keep track of turn order).
My pick: Warhammer Diskwars. 2-player games are amazing, 3-player games are not, and 4-player I think I did once. 2-player is where it shines.
Quantum's a good game but there's something I don't like about those dice. They look edible, but not in a good way
Good shout with Le Havre. It's a fantastic game but I don't think it scales well. Three is okay but beyond that it takes far too long. It's great with two.
I totally disagree with Ticket to ride: Nordic countries. I think it is best with three, but works well with two as well. I guess playing with someone focusing mostly on sabotaging won't be much fun though. Usually, however, you don't have time to purely sabotage much.
