Despite the rise of live service and multiplayer-focused titles, the past several years have been extremely good for single-player titles.
From enormous role-playing games and open worlds to action-packed adventures, these are 30 of the best single-player games that you have to play.

Metro Exodus should be included too
Control truely deserves to be higher up that list than a lot of those games. The lore is so deep and mind blowing, the visuals are striking, the game play with all the different powers is cool as fuck, its quite challenging and is a launch point for the wider control universe tying in other Remedy games like Alan Wake & Quantum Break to it. The subject matter you deal with in Control is litterally cosmic in scope.
I love mhw but the story is rubbish the online is where it’s at
Where is Mass effect?
This is a great opportunity to recomend my fav game ever:
Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana, gameplay as good as Breath of the wild; story as good as ocarina of time.
Share your faves here please 🙂
Didn't EA say single player games were dead? Bad company with bad analytics
Titanfall 2, while short, was wonderful. It deserved a place on this list.
Detroit Became Human should make the list or at least an honorable mention
How many of this games are playable on Xbox?
Where is Mafia Definitive Edition?
Some of my personal favorite single player games of the past generation to now are:
Zelda BotW
Nier Automata
Yakuza Like a Dragon
Persona 5
God of War
Detroit Become Human
The Last Guardian
Neo: TWEWY (currently playing)
Astral Chain
Uncharted 4
Divinity Original Sin 2
Life is Strange series
Psychonauts 2 (Currently playing)
I am sure would have added Doom Eternal to this good list..
Max of the games are consoles…damn i dont have one… Where are the story mode open world games for pc ???
how is deltarune not on this list?
Mass effect legendary edition?
Both The last of us part 2 and ori the will of the whisps are masterpiece
Single player games are the only ones I like and play. I don't have any friends to play games with and I don't care to deal with anyone online. Screw that. Nahh..im good.
THIS MAN NOT LOVE PS4 GAMES
Idk how anyone can say dark souls 1, 2 or 3 is better than demon souls. I haven't even played the remake and I still think demon souls is way better.
Damn no Doom Eternal. Shitty
Damn no Nier Automata and Nier Replicant? I'm out.
There are only about five multiplayer games I've ever put more than 10 hours into. Overwatch, Halo, Playstation All-Stars, Smash Bros, and maybe one or two others. I don't dislike multiplayer but I have no need for more than one at a time. Those games I just listed got most of their play-time through dead periods with no game releases where I would return to them. If you're over like 20 you don't really even have time for multiple multiplayer games. At least with single player games are more digestible.
I'm glad the industry is coming around on single player games. They seemed to have it in their head that everything had to be multiplayer or have a multiplayer component in the PS3/Xbox 360 era
I played hades and control, they are so enjoyable
I might be in the minority but I found Horizon Zero Dawn horribly generic.
Dont know how Doom Eternal, DMC 5 and Nier Automata missed the cut. But good list.
Dude got some serious issues with ubisoft…
Ac origins
ac odyssey
ac valhalla
Far cry 5
Far cry 6
Immortals fenyx rising
South park stick of truth
Crew 2
Watch dogs 2
Watch dogs legion
Ghost recon wildlands and breakpoint
one things I dilsike about a lot of single player games nowadays is putting yellow paint on everything you can interact with.
a big part of the exploration is finding the right path, if your path is laid out in yellow it takes away that sense of exploration
Getting a downthumb for putting TLOU 2 above the first game, amateur work
Selfish, but I love the respect to FromSoft. Bloodborne is my numero uno
Nier automata, death stranding
Here is my favorite list of single player games this generation:
Final Fantasy XV
Tales of Berseria
Tales of Arise
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Ys IX Monstrum Nox
Nier Automata
Darksiders Genesis
Darksiders III
Control
Hades
Batman Arkham Knight
Persona 5 Strikers
best single players, and the thumb is " control". well…….
Mad Max. One of the most underrated open world games ever.
I'd go as far as saying that red dead redemption 2 has had the biggest impact on me out of any piece of media I've experienced.
Anyone looking for some hot tips on a new game should skip this video. It's basically a list of the 30 most popular single player games of the last few years.
No Sleeping Dogs? Mad Max? Days Gone? How about the Saints Row Series or Yakuza, Witcher?
Totally forgot Hitman dude
Where is metro exodus?
The witcher 3
please don't ask this person to pronounce things in games he clearly has not played. Hearing him list monsters off MHW was like chalk on a chalkboard
for me i have to put dishonored 1 or 2 on this list some of the most fun games I have played with an art style that blows me away every time
No Hollow Knight or Doom kek
I cant believe that The Last of us isnt here
Where's Sekiro? 🤦♂️
MGS5 isnt even complete… it's not even a true MGS game
The Witcher 3 is GOAT
good job disabling the dislike button. It literally seems like you just looked up singleplayer games and read off the list instead of actually making a list of the best singleplayer games. 85% of these games are absolutely horrible.
My God, a Bloodborne PS5 remaster would be epic!!!
WORST GAMES…
More like single player games that you need to play IF YOU HAVE PLAYSTATION
